I have had a huge crush on the paintings of Jennifer Davis for a loooooong time! The pastels draw me in & the weird characters make me wonder- maybe this is what humans look like to her…  who knows!  Don’t some insects see in infrared?  Dogs in black and white?  Perhaps Jennifer Davis sees only in pastel and weird!  (I kinda envy that idea!)
According to Ms. Davis: I don’t have a very specific art making process. I basically just sit down and start doodling. I usually paint on panels but have lately been working more with paper. I draw and then paint over things, draw some more and sand/scrape things away until some sort of narrative starts to emerge. Found images and the funny things that people say and do often inspire me. I try to do some artwork every day. Loooong Minnesota winters are great for hibernating in the studio. Summer, not so much.
This one is called “Keeper” and it is a keeper!
